While sitting around a table, having a casual conversation on how we could give back to youth hockey, the Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association was born.

The mission statement for the Alumni is to “give back” to youth hockey in Central Illinois. We will do that by:

• Becoming involved in the community and charity events.
• Providing a scholarship to a deserving high school hockey player.
• Helping bring teammates back together.

Central Illinois is considered home for 13 former Rivermen players. The Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association has not been in existence for much time, and they have still been able to raise $6,000 for youth hockey.

The Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association is an ever-growing group of dedicated individuals that believe hockey is a way to help develop young adults. They have recently established a board that consists of former players and local business owners. They are meeting monthly to establish ways in which they can make a difference and “give back” to the Hockey Community.

The main fundraiser is the “River City Blizzard”. This is an adult hockey game that features alumni and the best adult hockey players in both Peoria and Pekin’s mens league. Both teams compete in the best of 3 games for the opportunity to raise the “Kouri’s Cup”
